Proposals for Valencia and New York are due by Thursday, October 16, 2025 (5:00 p.m. EST)
All proposals are reviewed by a faculty committee after the deadline, and notifications will be sent out by early November. Before completing the form, please review our guide on Submitting a BTOT Session Proposal for information on what should be included. You may also view last year's program here.
Session Title and Description
Provide a well-written, program-ready title and description for your session. This is the primary information the BTOT planning committee will use to determine whether or not your session should be included.
- Your session title and descriptions should be clear, engaging, and demonstrate that the proposed activities are appropriate for the time allotted (either 60 or 90 minutes).
- Descriptions should be written as a single paragraph; no bullet points or hyperlinks, please.
- Proposals will be denied if session descriptions are incomplete or vague. All selection decisions are final. Unsuccessful applicants may apply again the following year. For sample session descriptions, please refer to the BTOT Proposal Guide linked above. Don't forget to proofread!
Please note that the BTOT Planning Committee, the Office of Faculty Development, and the Office of Communications reserve the right to edit session titles and descriptions for clarity, tone, and length.
If you have any questions, please email us at facultydevelopment@berklee.edu.
Launched in the fall of 2022, the Inclusive Teaching and Learning Grant (ITL Grant) supports faculty, chairs, and program directors who wish to undertake a yearlong examination of pedagogical practices that foster inclusive and equitable learning environments.
While there is no one definition or approach to inclusive teaching, inclusive pedagogy refers to the ways in which classroom activities, curricula, and assessments are designed and delivered to engage all students in learning that is meaningful, relevant, and accessible. Inclusive pedagogy embraces individual differences, honors a range of perspectives and experiences, and promotes diversity in all its forms.
Specifically, these grants are intended to help our community identify impediments to student learning and implement strategies that will improve learning outcomes. Possible grant projects could include, but are not limited to:
- Developing antiracist teaching and revising classroom activities, course content, and assessment practices to be more inclusive
- Conducting interviews, surveys, and focus groups of students/faculty/etc. to identify gaps and possible areas of improvement and develop a plan to address any issues found
- Conducting research on teaching techniques or best practices in the classroom, such as universal design
- Developing a resource or tool to be shared with other colleagues
- Researching how to lessen bias (racial, class, gender and heteronormative) and address systemic inequities in the classroom or on campus
- Inviting a guest artist/scholar to campus to address issues of inclusiveness in your area
- Maintaining best practices for student advising and/or faculty/chair/program director mentoring
- Conducting a self-study and developing a set of strategies for fostering diversity in faculty hiring (how to attract and retain a diverse group of candidates)
Open to all disciplines of study, the grant provides up to $3,000 for individual projects or $7,500 for group projects. All active faculty, chairs, and program directors on the Boston, Valencia, and NYC campuses are eligible to apply. Grant funds may be received and used during sabbatical. Collaboration groups must be composed of two to four individuals. These groups can represent one or more departments and programs.
Please review all information and guidelines about the Inclusive Teaching and Learning Grant before submitting your proposal.
